Transforming concrete and asphalt into vibrant green
The future-oriented Kirschgärten development blends contemporary living with sustainability and social infrastructure. By 2031, the 120,000 m² site will be home to a bustling neighbourhood featuring around 1,500 apartments, a junior school and sports hall, a children’s day-care centre and a mix of cafés, shops and services arranged around a central square.

From grey to green: The revitalization of 120,000 m² of concrete and asphalt to create space for 60,000 m² of new green spaces (including a 24,000 m² park), 400 trees and communal roof gardens makes Kirschgärten a beacon project for sustainable urban development. In addition, features such as groundwater heat pumps, PV arrays and multiple mobility stations with sharing options enable the neighbourhood to be almost power and heat-autonomous and set new standards in terms of climate-friendly, resource-efficient construction. The decision to aim for the highest level of DGNB certification – Platinum – underlines the project’s commitment to sustainability.
